I worked for the farm incubator program for the past nine months and helped to see it get started as a program of Seattle Tilth. I am currently in transition to the program manager of Seattle Tilth’s new urban farm project in Rainier Beach, and for the Rainier Valley Eats! campaign.

While the interview process for the new staff person goes on, the farm is staffed by program manager Eddie Hill, with temporary staff Lydia Caudill supporting site management and education and Ike Dodd supporting construction and site development. Isabel Terranella is supporting small business development and marketing during the transition as well. Community Jobs interns Halima Muya and Mohamed Rago are working on the Seattle Tilth learning farm and as community liaison to round out the team.

Five farm businesses continue to participate in the farm incubator program in Auburn: Somali Bantu Family Farmers of Washington, Mursal Haidar, Fatuma Bilal, Haji Abukar, and Mohamed Juma.

Thanks to everyone for your support in getting this farm up and running. It is a beautiful site and the program has so much potential.

Here are some photos from my too brief visit to the farm on Saturday May 21.
