Five representatives from the Somali Bantu Family Farmers of Washington (SBFFW) visit Terry Whetham’s Quilceda Farm. Among other products, Terry sells goat meat to area restaurants and at the Ballard Farmer’s Market. He generously shared some of his ten years of experience in the business with our farmers, and invited us to come back as the season progresses.
Many of the farmers in this year’s training group were butchers, goat farmers or both in their native Somalia, and while they lived in refugee camps in Kenya. They are very interested to see how they can create a viable business while using some of those skills here.
